Perhaps most striking is their longevity. Shide live for centuries, their lifespans stretching so far beyond those of shorter-lived races that a single elf might witness the rise and fall of kingdoms, the slow reshaping of forests, or the birth and death of entire dialects. This vast span of years lends them a distinctive patience and a long view of history—what feels urgent to a human may seem, to an elf, only the opening notes of a much longer song.

Sunder Elves (deep forest/woodland)
Skin tones range from deep umber to mossy green-brown, deepening further in autumn. Hair often shifts through a full seasonal cycle—green-tinged in spring, russet and gold in autumn. Sunder elves are the most tied to Grove-binding traditions and tend to live in settlements grown with the forest rather than carved out of it—homes built into living trees, paths that shift with root growth.
Glasshaven Elves (coastal / island)
Pale, sun-touched skin that bronzes and fades with the tide-seasons, and hair that bleaches toward silver or sea-glass green in summer. Known for Thread-sight traditions tied to reading currents and stars, and for a seafaring culture surprisingly bold given their otherwise unhurried nature—long lives make for very patient navigators.
Ashfall Elves (mountain/highland)
Grey-toned or faintly stone-colored skin, with hair that darkens toward soot-black in winter months and lightens in summer. Culturally the most rigid and law-bound of the subraces, having built their keeper-councils into something closer to formal courts. Their magic leans toward Songweaving, using long call-and-response chants passed down for generations to bind agreements and mark boundaries.
Duskmere Elves (plains/borderlands)
The most physically variable subrace, since they range farthest and mix most often with neighboring peoples. Skin and hair color shift noticeably with the seasons of migration—many Duskmere elves are semi-nomadic, following herds or trade routes, and their culture places unusually high value on swift-bonds, having the most regular contact with shorter-lived races.

Shide stand tall and slender, their frames drawn out with a willowy grace that belies a surprising sturdiness beneath the surface. Where other folk might see fragility in their long limbs and narrow shoulders, Shide move with the quiet strength of a bent bow—flexible, resilient, and far tougher than they appear. Every gesture carries an effortless elegance, as though their bodies were shaped as much for beauty as for function.

Their coloring is far from fixed. Skin tones drift across a wide spectrum—bark-brown, moon-pale, sun-bronzed, ash-grey, or faintly touched with green or blue—shifting subtly with the region an elf calls home and even with the turning of the seasons. Hair follows the same restless pattern: a woodland elf's hair might deepen to autumn copper as the leaves turn, while a coastal elf's could bleach toward silver-white under a long summer's sun. This chromatic drift is thought to be tied to the land itself, as if Shide are a living reflection of the places and cycles they inhabit—less a fixed trait than an ongoing conversation with their environment.

  • OVERCONFIDENT: Shide believes they can do anything.
  • AGILE: Shide are graceful and agile. They start with a d6 in Agility instead of a d4. This increases maximum Agility to d12+1.
  • ALL THUMBS: Shide have an inherent dislike of mechanical objects in traditional fantasy settings, giving them the All Thumbs Hindrance.
  • LOW LIGHT VISION: Shide eyes amplify light. Other races often claim they can see stars in the Shide’ eyes. They ignore penalties for Dim and Dark Illumination.
